Helpful Hints
Besides conserving energy to help you deal with fatigue there
are other things that can help you feel better and cope with
that feeling of tiredness.
- Taking a bath, reading, or quietly watching television before
you try to sleep can help to relax you. If you notice that
sleep problems are persisting talk with your nurse.
- Eat well. See nutrition handout.
- Exercising is good. However, the type and amount of exercise
is based on each individual activity level.
- Watching television, reading and listening to music allows
you to focus on something other than your disease.
- Keeping a written daily or weekly journal can help one to
sort out ones thoughts and feelings as well as keeping track
of fatigue levels, nutritional intake and medication changes.

your enclosed medication card)

blood transfusions.

During the initial visit and teaching sessions, we highly encourage
you to bring a family member or friend. Your guest is welcome
to stay with you during your teaching. However, during subsequent
visits we ask that your friends and family wait in the lobby.
This ensures your confidentiality. If your treatment is long
feel free to ask your family or friend to return after your visit.
If You Have A Question
When you call our office with a question
or concern during regular office hours, you will speak to one
of our nurses. The nurses will relay your message to your physician
and call you back with the information that you requested as
soon as possible.
Dropping by the office may be an inconvenience for you, because
your doctor may not be available. Please give us a call first!,
even when you are just stopping by to pick up a prescription,
so that we can serve you more effectively.
If you need to see your doctor, we will schedule an appointment
for you. Sometimes, however, we can not always reach the physician
right away. If you are having a medical emergency, our nurses will
suggest you go to the emergency room if the doctor is not immediately
available. |
