Social Services
Licensed social workers are available at Mid Ohio Oncology/Hematology,
Inc to patients and their families. They help link patients and
their families with community resources, home health, and hospice
services. They work in conjunction with agencies and other hospital
systems that provide community workshops, National Cancer Survivors
Day and various support groups. Short-term counseling is also
available for patients and/or their families and caregivers.
Frequently Asked Questions:
I have no insurance. Can you help me?
Our social workers will
be happy to assist patients and their families by providing resources
for various options to help with finances associated with treatments.
The social workers often work in tandem with the Billing Department.
I think I need help but I am not sure exactly what type of help
I need.
Our social workers will conduct an assessment to determine
what type of assistance is needed for the patient and/or their
family. Once the assessment is completed, insurance coverage
determination can be made as many services are covered by the
patient’s
insurance. A referral to an appropriate agency or service provider
will be made by Mid Ohio Oncology/Hematology, Inc. on behalf
of the patient.
Is a support group right for me?
Support groups can be found
in many locations and in many venues. Our social workers will
assess patients and their families’ individual
needs and address these needs appropriately. Recommendations
will be made on an individual basis based on the patient and/or
family’s specific needs.
